Relaxation Zen Workshop – Nov 6th & 7th, 2010

Day 1: Healing from Relaxation:


- To relieve the burden from body and mind

Relaxation is the natural ability we are born with to unwind stress to our body and mind accumulated during everyday life. Nowadays it becomes a skill to be awakened to help manage stress and open the channels for self healing of illness and pain. We will cover detailed steps to integrate body and mind through natural relaxation:

  • Relaxing in our daily life – walking, sitting, sleeping…
  • Adjusting body postures to achieve tranquility in body and mind
  • Accomplishing daily activities efficiently yet remain relaxed at the same time

Day 2: From Relaxation to Meditation:
- To explore the potential of our body and mind
Meditation is an effective way to transform pressure and stress to inner peace of one’s own body and mind. However, oftentimes people find it exhausting during the meditation session – either muscles souring here and there, or mind being too agitated or drowsy, stemming from inability to relax. We will cover:

  • Relaxation and release of body stress before sitting meditation
  • Right postures for sitting meditation
  • Practical yet profound meditation techniques that quickly integrate body and mind
  • Relaxation postures after the sitting meditation

There will be several interactive, free form discussion sessions with the instructor regarding relaxation or meditation practice.

  • Please wear comfortable clothes. Please bring your own yoga / meditation mat and a large bath towel.
  • Class will be delivered in both English and Chinese.

About the Instructor: Mr. Chi-Sung Hung
      
Mr. Chi-Sung Hung is an internationally renowned Zen Master. He calls himself an “Earth Zen Person”, and calls for people to become “Earth Zeners” to promote happy, compassionate, healthy and mindful living for all creatures on earth. His spiritual journey can be traced back to the tragedy in his early childhood, which triggered a drive in him to seek for the enlightenment of life. By age 20, he had studied many meditation doctrines and became an eminent Zen practitioner. In the last 15 years, he has taught more than 60 different meditation techniques in advanced meditation courses. He has developed many modern applications of ancient scriptures that would otherwise be lost.

    Master Hung has created an easy and effective way to bring the practice of Zen into stress management. His “Relaxation Zen” CD was widely distributed to the rescue workers in the aftermath of the 1999 earthquake in Taiwan and 2008 Wenchuan earthquake in China to help mental and physical rehabilitation. Starting from 2004, Master Hung has lectured in many US cities and universities including Harvard University and MIT. He has also toured in Europe and south East Asia.

    Master Hung is also a fruitful author who has published more than a hundred books.
